We at Old South Church

demonstrate our concern for the wider world through commitment to local, national and international charities.  We believe that we are called upon to reach out to those in our community who are in need of spiritual, emotional or financial help.

During the current year, both through our budget and through individual giving, Old South has responded generously to tsunami and hurricane relief. Our concern for those in need in our local area has been demonstrated by contributions to the Salvation Army, Pettengill House, the Hugh Doyle Center, Community Service of Newburyport and Emmaus.  We support a Sudanese fellowship in Portland, Maine, and a Spanish language Presbyterian church in Lawrence, Massachusetts.

This past year we have assisted with serving the Friendship Dinner at the Newburyport Salvation Army.  We will be serving again in the coming months.  We have also assisted the victims of the Woodman Way fire in Newburyport. In November a team of five from Old South assisted in New Orleans with Presbyterian Disaster Assistance.
